Loving God for Himself Alone
Millions have been inspired by the writings of Dr AW Tozer (1897-1963), most famous for describing worship as the “missing jewel of the evangelical church”. This is one of my favourite Tozer quotes:
“In the perfection of love, the heart does not reason from admiration to affection, but quickly rises to the height of blind adoration where reason is suspended and the heart worships in unreasoning blessedness. It can only exclaim “Holy, holy, holy”, while scarcely knowing what it means. If this should all seem too mystical, too unreal, we have no proof. But some will read and recognise the description of the sunlit peaks where they have been for at least brief periods and to which they long often to return. Such will need no proof.”
My experience of this level of purity or ecstasy in worship is all too fleeting and rare. But what I do have is a desire and a longing to breathe more of the rarefied air of the worship of heaven. As the writer to the Hebrews puts it: “They were longing for a better country, a heavenly one.” (Hebrews 11:16). It is good of course to give thanks to God for His wonderful gifts, and we must admire and praise Him for His glory, His love, and His grace. But ultimately is it the deepest longing of our hearts simply to be with Him, to be in His presence, to enjoy time with our precious Lord and Saviour, loving Him for Himself alone?
What i do not realize is actually how you are not actually much more well-liked than you may be now. You’re very intelligent. You realize therefore significantly relating to this subject, produced me personally consider it from so many varied angles. Its like women and men aren’t fascinated unless it is one thing to do with Lady gaga! Your own stuffs excellent. Always maintain it up!

Yes, you’re right, there could hardly be a clearer contrast between the desire to know God in all His fullness and depth, and the shallowness of much of pop culture.
